From its inception, in 1997, the firm and its principal has seriously undertaken developing and pioneering an innovative mode of practice to effectively address the sustainability challenges facing this planet.

To this end, Donald Yen MAIBC has developed and pioneered the concept of an integrated “open-source” professional practice® designed to break down traditional project barriers within professions and disciplines, and to openly source the best and most appropriate knowledge and talent in addressing multiple dimensions of urban development in the most sustainable, holistic and creative approach.   

Urban Solutions Architecture is an innovative  “solutions” design firm owned and managed by Donald Yen MAIBC, MRAIC, and of collaborating architects, planners, designers, researchers, and support staff. Our work is rooted in humane and ecological sustainability and creative spirit. We serve clients world-wide from our studio in Vancouver, BC. Canada.

To provide our clients with the best service and advice, the firm uses an open-source collaborative team approach to optimize project delivery. Urban Solutions also host a research group that supports design efforts on issues of the environment, sustainability, education and design.
